I bought a bib and a shirt. The design and material look good. The chamois is very comfortable.
After ONE RIDE ONLY, I can not comment on the durability issue read elsewhere.
I ordered by mistake another shirt and getting to ship back this item turns out to be a real NIGHTMARE. The customer service is careless and unprofessional. It seems that everything is made to discourage customers to make use of the free shipping back condition.
TLDR : 0/10 for customer service and exchange policy.
MAAP has unrealistic requirements for exchanges / returns if you have tried the cloths on. They claim there is a 60-day return policy if you are not 100% satisfied, and when we asked to exchange our jersey they would not accept it because we had worn it.
The fit is cut for on-saddle posture, so it is unrealistic to know if these cloths fit right unless you try them on while riding.
We are taking our business back to Rapha...
Service and kit are always excellent. We had a slight diff of opinion over the space age top end bibs which are a very different blue which I wasn't that into, but the performance is great. Great performance is a standard for this brand. Like Rapha, except cool. Rapha is what old mate from work wears because he thinks it is legit. It was, like 10 years ago. MAAP is legit now. They also manage to get me kit to the UAE in 2-3 days via DHL, sick service.
What a dire experience. Two discount codes in quick succession, both of which had limits that were not mentioned in the T&Cs. Having made peace with that, I then continued, shopped at length, and made my account, ONLY FOR THAT TO LOSE EVERYTHING IN MY BASKET AND MY DETAILS. Furious. Customer service have been pretty blunt / rude as well.
WOMEN'S MAAP Training Bibs
After one wash (DELICATE CYCE & AIR DRY), my Women's Training Bibs elastic in the leg has frayed. Chamois is super comfortable, but the material of the bibs are not durable. I have had MAAP bibs in the past and because of the lack of options out there for women, I bought the same ones hoping MAAP had made some updates. I DO NOT recommend these bibs, especially for the price point. Unless you're able to buy bibs every few months, I do not recommend these. It is also disappointing MAAP doesn't have a place to upload photos and honest reviews on their products like Rapha.
I primarily used Rapha gear but after trying out MAAP, the fit, feeling, and quality of the gear was so much better and made me an overnight fan. I ended up selling my Rapha jerseys on eBay to make room for some MAAP kit. Over time, I have been able to get 8 jerseys, 2 caps, 1 vest, 1 jacket, and 1 pair of bibs. All of these pieces were fantastic, felt so good, and were very much high quality. The aesthetic of the gear as well as the cut are both so stellar. The design and execution has been top notch. However, on one occasion, I bought and received a jersey on sale with failing seams by the neck. I was able to quickly contact their customer service. I spoke to Tom McFarlane who helped me initiate a return and exchange for the full value of the jersey. It was quick and easy. Tom was very kind, responsive, and had his own initiative to help me out. I was impressed all around with the product and customer service. Thank you MAAP!
I’m really surprised reading some negative reviews here regarding both product and service. I’ve bought various items from MAAP over the years, both from their original Australian site and the EU site since it launched, the products and service have always been top-notch, at least in my experience.
My current bib shorts, the 2.0 bib have done over 15k kilometres and are still going strong and one of their long sleeve fleece lined jerseys from about 4 years ago is, hands down, one of the best cycling clothing purchases I’ve made — stylish, warm, and, in my humble opinion, a perfect pro-like slim fit.
With regards to returns, I’ve only ever had to return one item, purely my fault, as I ordered the wrong size and didn’t notice it before I checked out. I contacted Luke, and a return was initiated immediately. It was a very smooth experience.
Luke has also answered questions I’ve had over the years to regarding stock, colours, etc. He’s tipped me off on upcoming products a couple of times too, which has been appreciated.
All in all, I highly recommend MAAP. It’s been great to see them evolve over the years to become one of the cutting edge brands in cycling, while still retaining their unique style and eye for detail.
Keep up the awesome work, MAAP!
I bought a bib short from MAAP. The bib short actually fits well and I liked wearing it. My conclusion after 8 rides using MAAP is, however, that MAAP charges high-end prices for low-end quality of product.
The bib shorts started showing signs of wear after a couple of rides (damaged fabric). In my case this means that the bib shorts now have a cost per use of close to 25 euros (8 times used and the fabric is damaged significantly ...)
The customer service replied in a concise manner that "the wear is caused by an external factor and therefore falls outside the scope of warranty". They did not seem to be surprised by the report and completely ignored the problem of inferior quality.
I previously had shorts from Isadore, Giordana, dhb, ... and never experienced such an issue even after years of usage. Enough said.
